Construction Project Manager – East Coast

We are seeking a high achieving early career professional with an entrepreneurial spirit to be the Construction Project Manager, working out of our 40 Guest Street location in Brighton, MA.

You will plan and oversee a SmartLabs construction projects from beginning to end.  Hire subcontractors and work with engineers and architects as needed and keep track of inventory equipment and materials.

You must be highly self-motivated, always professional, and able to prioritize your workload in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Things change fast and frequently here, so we need someone at the top of their game who can shift gears, change directions, and keep going at pace. You have to be a smart, strategic thinker and a tactical executer. Acute organizational skills, multitasking capabilities and business savvy all come into play here and you will use them every day.

In this role, you will:

Represent SmartLabs with vendors, collaborating with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and key team members of the project team.

Assist with buyout and negotiations with external vendors on contract agreements.

Oversee construction projects from buyout to closeout

Facilitate Operations handover

Manage the budget and build cost estimates

Keep track of inventory, tools, and equipment

Ensure supplies and material are ordered and delivered according to schedule

Prepare reports regarding job status

Resolve any problems that may arise

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes

Evaluate project risks and collaboratively work to mitigate them

Train and mentor the facilities team depending on the size of the day 2 project

Obtain, directly or through a vendor, the appropriate permits, and licenses from authorities for construction sites

Plan construction operations

Ensure all project deadlines are met

Allocate and manage resources to ensure that they are available when they are needed

throughout the construction or day 2 project phase

Keep all stakeholders aware of the progress on projects and prepare progress as well as budget reports regularly

Handle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during a project cycle

Conduct regular site checks to monitor progress and quality standards
Professional qualifications include:

BSc/BA degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field.

Extensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects

Excellent knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

You have a 5-7 year track record of success in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, at all levels and cross-functionally.

Ability to learn new tools and applications when and where needed.
